Product Indications

Milk thistle is a herb traditionally used as a liver protectant and to support liver function. Milk thistle is also used to relieve digestive disturbances and heartburn.

Product Composition

Each capsule contains the following as active ingredient:

Milk thistle extract (providing 200mg silymarin) 250mg

Inactive ingredients: Hypromellose (cellulose) vegetarian capsule shell (gelatin free), microcrystalline cellulose and magnesium stearate (vegetarian flow agent)

Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Storage Instructions

Store in a cool dry place, below 25°C. Keep out of reach of children.

Pharmacological Action

Silymarin is composed of six major flavonolignans, each of which may contribute to silymarin's hepatoprotective properties. Antioxidant or free radical-antagonizing actions from flavonoids present in milk thistle have been cited as a likely mechanism of action of milk thistle.

Dosage Directions

Adults and children over 12 years of age: Take 1 capsule three times a day. Use for a minimum of 3 weeks to see beneficial effects.

Avoid if you are allergic to any of the ingredients. Don’t exceed indicated dose, nor combine with other medication or pre-existing illness without medical advice.

Side Effects

Side effects may include gastrointestinal distress, headache and skin rash. Hypersensitivity (allergy) has been known to occur; in which case, discontinue use.
