Product Composition
Each caplet contains the following as active ingredients: A proprietary complex of Garcinia cambogia extract (standardised to 60% HCA) and chromium polynicotinate 660mg Inactive ingredients: Polyvinylpyrrolidine, sodium starch glycollate, magnesium silicate and magnesium stearate.

Dosage Directions
Adult and children over 12 years of age: Take 1-2 caplets three times a day on an empty stomach, about 30-60 minutes before each meal. Supplies optimal and effective doses of both HCA and chromium polynicotinate. Children under 7-12 years of age: Take 1 caplet three times a day on an empty stomach, about 30-60 minutes before each meal.


Pharmacological Action
Researchers believe that HCA inhibits the accumulation of lipid droplets in fat cells and thereby reduces lipid levels and decreases lipid accumulation in the liver. HCA is also theorised to improve exercise endurance by increasing lipid oxidation and decreasing carbohydrate utilisation. Chromium is thought to be the active component of glucose tolerance factor (GTF) which is a complex of molecules found in the body. GTF enhances the blood sugar-lowering effects of insulin, which facilitates the uptake of glucose into cells. It is suspected to potentiate insulin by increasing receptor numbers and affinity, and increasing insulin binding to cells. This suggests that chromium potentiates the effect of insulin in patients with diabetes which translates into decreased insulin resistance, improved glucose tolerance, and lower blood glucose levels. Chromium is used for the treatment of obesity and metabolic syndrome because of it effect on lipids and body composition.

Side Effects
HCA Appetite Control with chromium is generally well tolerated. Side effects that have been reported include transient gastrointestinal irritation, headaches, insomnia, sleep disturbances, irritability, and mood changes.
Product Interactions
Use cautiously in individuals with renal or hepatic insufficiency. Use cautiously in individuals with diabetes or in patients receiving oral hypoglycemics or insulin. Blood glucose should be closely monitored and the dosage of diabetic medcicines may need to be reduced. This should be carefully coordinated under the supervision of a health care provider. Chromium polynicotinate should be used with caution if using the following medicines:

    Insulin
    Levothyroxine
    Nonsteroidal Anti-inflammatory Drugs (NSAIDs)

Medicines that deplete chromium levels or affect absorption include:

    Antacids
    Corticosteroids
    H2-Blockers
    Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs)
